It is time to start gathering seeds for next spring. I particularly like to gather nasturtium, zinnia, and marigold seeds. This time of the year I gather the seed pods, spread them out on cookie sheets to dry and leave them on the dining room table for a couple of weeks. About a gallon zip lock of each is plenty for me to plant them everywhere and also give seeds to friends and neighbors.
I’ve noticed fewer mosquitos on the patio when I plant marigolds all around. Also, the deer have stopped coming into the vegetable patch since I planted marigolds in their entrance. Aphids prefer nasturtiums to roses. So we’re both happy. And nasturtium leaves and flowers are edible and so gorgeous in a salad.
